Inventory Analyst

Job Description

This position requires someone with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, manufacturing/operations, planning, and finance. This candidate must be able to suggest process improvements and strengthen communication channels with other departments.

Responsible for assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations to delivering world class Supply Chain Management working with retail, wholesale and ecommerce teams to drive at-once and forecast ordering.

This role effectively manages inventory levels to support sales and inventory plans.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor suppliers’ performance to ensure that goods and services conform to the contract requirements
  • Review inventory levels and service levels to insure proper capital utilization
  • Facilitate quick turnaround time of invoice resolution, damaged product claims, and discrepancy issues
  • Identifies and rectifies stock imbalances in individual channels through allocation of new receipts and replenishment inventory to maximize the ability of each store to generate sales and margin
  • Analyzes merchandise performance at the department, item and location level including analyzing store performance and stock to- sales ratios on a weekly basis to identify problems and opportunities on both the class and departmental basis
  • Works closely with Direct Planners to ensure that total company inventory is utilized to its maximum potential
  • On an ongoing basis, communicates and makes recommendations to the Buyer, Merchandise Planner and Merchant regarding company needs, distribution concerns such as flow, breaks or sizing and new store issues
  • Continuously analyze and manage inventory levels to drive sales and margin
  • Track shipments to warehouse and stores to ensure timely delivery of all goods
  • Monitor stocks by category of business by warehouse and store to identify capacity issues
  • Manage related KPI to measure, control and benchmark procurement processes including creation of recurring metrics reports
  • Align with Internal customers, Finance and Procurement Operations to understand budgetary targets by building to develop an agreed method of measuring and defining savings, value and other category metrics
  • Build the channel metrics model based on input from the category team to track and monitor performance to the channel strategy Gathers and interprets relevant data (costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc.)
  • Analyze and support team with inventory WOS ( weeks of supply) reporting, management working with supply chain team
  • Report and manage KPIs to project and optimize inventory level to drive 100% in stock level at retailers while minimizing inventory $$ investment across all facets of businesses – retail, team, and Ecom
  • Develop logistics and capacity planning KPIs and regularly report on critical developments
  • Analyze and support long term planning working cross functionally with supply chain, sales planning team and merchandising
  • Drive system changes to manage WOS, capacity planning and inventory management working cross functionally with IT, retail, team, and Ecom
  • Manage the process to reduce Excess and Obsolete inventory and good returns

Position Requirements:

  • Advanced Excel skills a MUST
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 minimum years of procurement experience; sports apparel a plus
  • Experience with cost accounting and procurement
  • Must be highly proficient in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs
  • Must possess strong communications skills, strong project management skills
  • Supply Chain management and analysis. Candidate should demonstrate ability to develop and improve business processes, evaluate and assess the financial and operational viability
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel / Office skills required, especially the need to have exceptional modeling skills in Excel
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced work environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with communication & interpersonal skills
